The Vancouver Sweater
It was another good event at GM Place with 4-6 thousand on hand to see the release of the new sweater. Before they had the players come out, I could peer down the hallway and could see them in it. I knew immediately what it was, and it was exactly like one of the leaks we had all previously seen.
After I saw it, they put on the smoke and lights and Markus came out onto the ice
And then came out Willie Mitchell, Mattias Ohlund, Kevin Bieksa, & Trevor Linden.
And that’s it folks. Original colours and style, a smaller Orca logo, and the addition of the word VANCOUVER above it all. Naslund mentioned he hoped the new jersey would help the Canucks do what Anaheim did with their new jersey last year… and that was go all the way.
They were giving shirts away marking this event if you purchased a jersey, but I happened to get one of them from the team throwing them into the crowd. That’s aways fun!

The Chief Canuck
Updated 2:10 pm: Reports say that there were 8,500 fans in the stadium for the release party. I stick by my estimated 6,000 figure. The lower bowl was about 70% filled and no one in the uppers or in the club seats. Maybe others, like myself, gathered 4 free tix. And I would guess a bunch of them didn’t show up.

What a disappointment ! The design is so poor that not even the original colours look good anymore. The original logo and design was much better than what’s on this get up; even the blue/silver/red with the orca beats what we’re stuck with now.
What a sad, sad day.

Well I have an official vintage, plus an Orca and last years practice jersey, this one doesn’t make me want one enough to buy another new one. I think the original vintage was the best.

I could live with the new jerseys up until the point that they wrote Vancouver across them. That text just makes them ugly.
