NHL Draft: 2001, 24th overall, 1st round

Krajicek (pronounced cry-check) was not just a throw in on the Luongo/Bertuzzi trade.  It’s true that Allen is a hard nosed Keenan type player and that’s why Florida went after him as part of the deal.

That further led to the Canucks needing to fill another hole on defense and wanted to get one of Florida’s defenseman in return.  With the reality they were losing Jovanovski on defense, they also needed to obtain a defenseman with some offensive abilities.  And that’s a hard thing to come by.

Despite the fact the Canucks now have 8 defenseman (Ohlund, Salo, Mitchell, Krajicek, Bieksa, Tremblay, Fitzpatrick, & Bourdon) there is still some stiff competition to see who gets time on the power play units and who will end up going down to the farm.

You should expect to see Krajicek fight for his position on this team and to prove himself as an offensive threat in the NHL.
