Goalie Wire – Los Angeles

And another goalie hits the waiver wire.  The signing of Dan Cloutier to a two year contract extention relegated LaBarbera or Garon to have to ride the pine.  Unfortunately for them, only one can take a seat at the NHL level, with the other to be sent down to the farm.

LaBarbera and his $750K contract on now on their way through the waiver wire unless another team elects to pick him up.  I think at this point, even a team with a bonifide number 1 guy would be preferable to Labarbera so that he can keep collecting on his NHL contract.

I would be surprised to see the team pick up LaBarbera as it’s unlikely they want to add dollars to their NHL roster.  His salary being an increase of $300K over that of Wade Flaherty.

Teams still needing to make a decision on their goalie roster with players needed to go through waivers include Florida’s Craig Anderson and Toronto’s Mikael Tellqvist.
