Game File 27: Con’t

Some more stuff on Saturday’s game.

The Canucks really did score 3 goals in that game.  But  bad puck luck continues to haunt the team.  It’s getting to be completely ridiculous.  Naslund said it best when he commented that he would have to be the best athlete in the world to deliberately kick that puck in the net.

Now I get that there was a kicking motion, but the rule is meant for INTENTIONAL kinking.

What in the world is wrong with TORONTO.  We’ll blame this on that city as well as that’s where the video replay rulings are made from.

And on to other players… did anyone miss Matt Cooke in that game?  Nope, he’s easily replaced, but still holds a decent trade value for a team looking to make a deep run in the playoffs.

Looking back at Thursday’s game against Anaheim, I found it interesting that Vigneault called Cooke out for going offside on a 2 on 1 late in the game.  The thing is that Cooke has been doing it all season, and expecially in the third period.

Alexander Edler is really starting to settle down into a consistent role with the Canucks.  While the arrival of Krajicek and Bieksa were surprises this year, Edler getting a regular shift here in the NHL is the biggest surprise.

Next up is Edmonton.  This is where it gets real for the Canucks.  Edmonton has been outscored 11-3 in their last two games.  It’s the perfect time for them to pay a visit to GM Place.
