Game File 81: Canucks 4 Sharks 3 (OT)

The Good

NORTHWEST DIVISION CHAMPIONS

Again.  Nothing is better in the regular season than winning that title and seeing Colorado officially get knocked out of the playoffs.

That was a gritty performance.  It should put faith into every fan than they can get it done this year in the playoffs.

I didn’t do a Game File post after the Colorado game.  There wasn’t much to say.  That wasn’t a good game, but they can’t be expected to go 82-0-0 anyways.  They just need to go 4-3 over the next 4 rounds of playoff hockey.

Luongo had the most incredible save in the third period.  He had lost his stick, managed to partially pick it up, then swing it around to the other side of the net to block the puck from going into an open net.  Absolutely crazy.

On ‘After Hours’ tonight, Kelly Hrudey picked Vancouver and Buffalo to go to the finals this year.

I couldn’t agree with you more Kelly.

The Bad

Penalties just about killed the Canucks tonight.  When they play disciplined, they do awesome.  In their defense though, some of the second period calls were weak.  Especially the one on Luongo.  But you have to think that worked in their favour as none were called on them in the third or overtime.  And trust me, they did their fair share of stick work.  They just didn’t get the calls against them.

The Ugly

I hate games against the Dallas Stars.  And now we need to watch at least four of them in a row against the Canucks as the Western Conference is all but set.

I’m not worried about playing them, but they’ve been pretty boring games.  Actually, I’m not even sure we’ve ever played them in a playoff match.

Oh well, better them than out.

oh we have played Dallas in the playoffs…we have to go all the way back to the second round of ’94….I think we all remember that year 🙂

  2. Of course, I tend to forget about the fact we beat the Star and Leafs between rounds with Calgary and New York.
