A Roster Move

After pulling a no show at the NHL Entry Draft Last weekend, Gillis makes his first major player move by picking up Kyle Wellwood from the Toronto Maple Leafs on waivers.

I’m definately surprised that TO let this guy go, he has a ton of talent.  But the knock on him has been his conditioning and that has resulted in 2 injury filled seasons.

Maybe this is why:

I saw a comment from a Vancouver fan that said:

‘Kyle Wellwood needs to understand that drinking beer beside the pool when you have a broken foot is MY method of rehab, and I’m not giving him permission to use it anymore.’

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.  Maybe with Gillis’ strong approach to player development, he’ll be able to take some of these project players and turn them into true professionals.
